“I love my job. The practice of massage therapy brings together everything I’m passionate about: physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing and longstanding joyful relationships that benefit both me and my clients. Laughter, tears, comfort and progress. If I won the lottery I would continue to work as an RMT. Just not full-time ;)"
As an RMT since 2008, I've worked in clinical, home, and independent living settings to help patients manage chronic and acute pain from a variety of causes and injuries, sports injuries, pre- and post-natal symptoms, and physical effects of anxiety and stress.
I own and operate a licensed home-based practice located at 987 Fernie Road in South Kamloops, near Thompson Rivers University. My clinic offers security and privacy in a quiet, spotlessly clean treatment space. There is free parking in the driveway immediately outside the door to my clinic, and there are no stairs to allow for ease of access with mobility aids. As a private clinic, my reception area is not open to the public. If you arrive early for your treatment please wait to be welcomed in.
I believe strongly in the value of preventative care through regular massage. I have seen the compounding effect of emotional, physical, and environmental stress on the health of patients for many years. I've also watched clients regain their wellbeing through shifting priorities and engaging in their own wellness.
Upon my graduation from Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in 2008, BC’s three-year program was the most comprehensive in the world. I then passed written and practical board exams with distinction. I have seventeen years of additional continuing education to ensure awareness of up-to-date techniques and emerging research. Personally, my inner nerd is fascinated by research-backed neuroscience, nutrition, and exercise physiology, and I bring those interests into my practice to support my clients’ health goals.
I am committed to offering a safe and welcoming space with respect to gender diversity, sexual orientation, race, age, culture, and men and therapist is critical for a positive and healing experience. I am always learning in this regard, and I invite any feedback that would further this goal.
Appointments can be booked online, by phone or text at 250-682-1428, or by e-mail at erin@efrmt.ca.
I am accepting new clients and greatly appreciate referrals of your friends, family and colleagues. I do ask that new patients reach out by e-mail, text or phone to ensure that I can accommodate them prior to booking.
Clients are welcome to change or cancel appointments online or by text or e-mail 24 hours in advance without fees. Cancellations made within 24 hours of treatment require payment of the full treatment fee, as your appointment time has been reserved for you and others have been unable to book the space. In case of a medical emergency or illness, no fee is due. Please be proactive in cancelling with as much notice as possible if you are ill.
The standards for Massage Therapy in British Columbia are some of the highest in the world, with rigorous requirements to both attain and maintain registration. BC RMTs are regulated under the Health Professions Act of British Columbia and the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC.
RMTs have an inclusive knowledge of Health Sciences including anatomy and physiology, neurology, kinesiology and pathology. Our skills include clinical assessment, therapeutic exercise, sports massage, pre- and post-natal care, and treatment of acute injuries and chronic pain.
In my practice, the benefit of massage for nervous system regulation is primary. All treatments, regardless of the goal, address the nervous system and are relaxing in nature. I do not subscribe to ‘No Pain, No Gain.’ I’m happy to discuss the mechanics of the nervous system and the body’s negative response to excessively deep techniques, but in my experience the treatment speaks for itself. That being said, my goal is to help you find a good match. If referral to an RMT colleague or other health professional is best, I have a wide network of contacts in diverse health professions to address your needs.
I bill insurers directly whenever possible to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of treatment. I do not bill Worksafe or ICBC directly. Forms of payment accepted are e-transfer to erin@efrmt.ca, Mastercard, Visa, debit Mastercard and debit Visa. Cash and cheque are also accepted.
Please ensure that all payments made by e-transfer are sent the day of treatment by the end of the business day- I find I spend a lot of time requesting forgotten payments.
Rates are as follows and include GST:
45 minutes $97.50
60 minutes $130
75 minutes $162.50
90 minutes $195.00
Direct Billing
I currently bill over 30 insurers directly. I do not bill Worksafe or ICBC directly. The following insurers can be billed directly, and the client is responsible for the portion of treatment cost not covered by the insurer. Payment is due at the time of treatment.
